a few days ago i was having memory problems , it turned out to be the nvidia network driver lol, when i was swapping and testing each ram module i acedentally hit the cpu fan with my fingers and 1 of the blades came off and the case was fibrating violentely, i pulled it allout and stuck the stock fan in it . i decided to remove the broken fan from the heatsink (7700-cu) and replace it with a oldschool compaq server loud bastard fan lol , theres one in the front of my server and it will grab your shirt if your walk to near. the airflow is insane no 120 thease days will match (that i have seen). i did a few tests running it with power and discoverd it was a thermally controlled version, so i shorted the thermal resister and tinned it and the fan revved up to some insane rpm,now to attache itto the heatsink was the trickey part, h ad to get this old scredriver thingy , wall wasant a screwdriver it was a screwdriver with a small tread tapp like a screw but for making holes, i lined the braket up on the back side of the fan , made the holes, used some large tread type computer screws cut all the fan chassis away fitted it on and it fits perfectally

Modded

Standard- not my pc

SOrry for any typoes in advance

I will do thermal tests as soon as its in and leave results

if you see any old compaq servers , this was out of a compaq prolaint 3000 a "brick" if you will , well if you see them grab the fans there insane

I feel for you, I had the same thing happen with my AMD comp, I dropped a screw driver onto one of those copper heatsink fans, and I'm not sure of the price nowdays but it cost around the $80.

Let me know if the fan does its job, do you have any spare fans?

I got an entire stock HSF from an Athlon64 skt 754 3000+ If ya want it. Though i am assuming you got that AMD thingo sorted ages ago, or its not negligible.
I got the HSF when i brought a CPU second hand, but i stuck it in a shuttle that came with its own cooling solution.

Nice job on the mod there chris, Noise must be a prick, but that case of yours was never exactly silent was it?

nah never did get it fixed. Computer has been the storage for a while now. Had issues with the graphic card (G4ti4200) as you may recall at LAN-DINGs in the past. Kinda gave up, no cpu fan, no graphic card. If I don't go out friday night I'll probably turn up to onewaylan with it.

Righto..
Will bring that HSF along just incase, you can have it and then all you need is a graphics card.. shouldn't be too hard to source one of those on the cheap.
