I know that there's a couple of IT people on this forum, so I'm hopeing someone has some ideas about MACS

I have:
MACOS X 10.4.x

I want a script to run after a user has logged on.

e.g.
logon as fsmith
run --> myscript

I know you can manually add scripts to the startup via startup items in the user manager section. But thats per user. I just want to put a generic script for any users that get created on the computer.

In windows the location would be:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

On mac it would be??? Does anyone know where the "startup items" are located on the system? is it a folder somewhere in the user profile?

I have looked at loginhooks, however they seem to run under as a "system account" and before the users desktop has actually come up.

Try searching for the stuff on linux help sites. tis the same underlying system. If you find a linux solution, post it here and i will try to help you

Cheers, old topic, but I ended up solving the problem but creating a file in /library/prefereneces

and wrote an applescript that then did what i needed.
