i destroyed an old dvdburner, and did this mod, i didant have maglight handy so i used the remains of one of those el-cheapo show laserlights, useda spring to keep the lens in it and it works, thow it does not burn stuff as illustrated in the link above, i grabbed my fog machine and used it as a saber lol, it might be the maglights lens that makes it more powerfull, anyways im off to bed, btw i couldant even get a strip of pvc electrical tape to get warm in a 30 second shining.

for prebuilt lasers have a look at http://www.wickedlasers.com/ they have some cool lasers and some videos of them in action. This site might give you some good ideas on how to test your laser when u build it.

Keeping in mind that wicked lasers cost an arm, leg and in some cases your first born child.
