Fire crews are currently in attendance at Nirranda Ct and Cologne Dr, Oakdowns where the fire edge is backing down off Stanfields Hill and approaching properties in the area. They are being assisted by helicopter water bombing operations.

Residents in the area are asked to be vigilant of any embers that may carry onto their properties from the prevailing winds.


All home owners in bushfire prone areas are urged to implement fire prevention strategies if they haven’t already done so. Information and assistance on bushfire preparedness can be accessed through the TFS website

Smoke will be visible to the south of Hobart. Motorists are urged to take care when driving in the vicinity.

OLD STATION ROAD, CONNINGHAM

Fire crews are currently attending to a number of spot fires in the vicinity of the Channel Highway, north of the Manuka Road intersection. They are being assisted by helicopter water bombing operations. All residents in the Snug area need to be vigilant and report any outbreaks by calling 000.

People travelling on the Channel Highway to be aware of smoke across the road and fire trucks will be accessing the highway.

Favourable conditions today have assisted crews in maintaining the fire within existing boundaries. Currently there are no properties under threat. Major back burning operations will continue this afternoon off existing fire trails at the rear of Coningham Road through to Old Station Road. Similar back burning will be undertaken off a dozer line near Quarry reserve to the north of Oyster Cove.

Motorists are urged to take care when driving in the vicinity due to increased smoke levels.

Tasmania Police advise motorists that Old Station Road has been closed to all traffic due to the effect of the bushfire burning in the area. The TFS advised that only residents of the Conningham area will be allowed to access this area and it also asks that the general public stay clear of the area to allow movement of fire trucks.

The helicopter will be conducting aerial reconnaissance and water bombing throughout the day.
