Hi all,

My name is Em and I... am NOT an alcoholic... er

I moved to Tasmania from Italy almost 8 years ago. I've lived in Heybridge, Cooee, Burnie, Launceston, Cradle Mountain, and am now in Hobart. (And YES I am tired of moving! BTW moving again in a few weeks, are there second hand shops down here that will actually pay you for your stuff, does anyone know? Thanks Wink)

I love tassie... I miss my home and family sometimes but this place is just too awesome.

So that's me started - just thought I'd say hi! (Found this site through a google search for... can't remember what now)

Looks interesting. Thought I'd sit a spell. Smile

Second hand shops....the only ones that come to mind are.
Cash Convertors
and Buy and Sell

Like any of these type of places their not going to give you a million dollars for your stuff but well worth trying. The other option I'd recommend is the Mecury paper. Specially on a weekend. They have a flea market day in the paper cant remember if its Saturday or Sunday but its free for items selling for $100 or less.

You could also advertise having a garage sale in there, but be warned that people get up nice and early and come knocking to get the bargins.

Love the story of your trip around Tasmania. which part did you like the most, say Hobart Wink
much better then Launceston. hehe

Thank you Grant! I have to say, at least in Launie I knew where everything was... had my favourite shops and restaurants etc all sorted out. Now I have to start from scratch... sigh.
Re people knocking on my door early... 9 am is early. There is NO 7 am, mornings start at 8 (8:30 in winter). 6.30 is still the night before. Very Happy

Your thinking of mondays grant..

Launceston has a tendancy to be like that, everything on the edge of the only block the city appears to have.
Hobart is awesome, you can pick a street and spend a day exploring if you are new to it, there are some great places around if you can be bothered looking.

Hope your not moving too far !!

Cash converters can be kinda pick I think, and you have to take everything there aswell, can be a pain.
There is a buy and sell spot here on tassie chat.. its free, and its got no time limit on how long the advert can hang around for..

Thank You tAK! I'm looking at around Sandy Bay area, but I have no hope of competing with what the rich asian students' parents can pay for rent... so maybe Kingston? Don't know. Not sure what the nice areas are yet.
I'm going to take a whole bunch of stuff to Gowans I think... and might post my bike on the buy and sell thing. Thank you Smile
So, what do YOU guys get up to on your days off? I like going to animal parks... but lately I've started following a friend of mine around, he does live gigs, so on a nice sunny day it's hard to choose between being outside in the awesome weather and being inside with the awesome music... Luckily he doesn't play for long, so I can do both. Trying to meet people... trying not to turn into a hermit again Smile
