Great to here you are moving to tassie !!

I hope you enjoy it down here, have you ever been before?
Jabs gave some great advice there, being close to schools and services is a must.

Check the weather report for a few days before you come, its worth knowing what to expect.

Bring a jumper, transport(buses etc) isn't all that great out in the bush, so if you were planning to get some land, you'd probably need a car.
thanks

Hobart is certainly "big"

Really, in comparison with any other capital, it's kinda small, but on tassie standards, it's big Razz

There are quite a number of job listings in Hobart and it's surrounding areas.

One thing the state is good for, is bushwalking. There are quite a number of good tracks around the place, I've been on a scarce handful, but they're there.

As for places NOT to try... Gagebrook and Bridgewater. Stay away from them. Depends where you're looking really, a place near the city, or further out.

if you want to check out real estate here:

www.realestate.com.au

most of the local real estate agencies list things there, so its a great place to start looking.
As for jobs, yeah, Hobart being the capital of TAS, its the place to look.. most of the jobs for here are listed:

www.careerone.com.au
and for government jobs:
www.jobs.tas.gov.au

Its a great place for kids really, plenty of opportunities for kids to play in local sporting groups, and plenty of schools around.
thanks again

thanks again to everyone who replied you dont know how helpful you are

we would like to live were there is a bit of both you know near to were the jobs are but not too close, i would love to be able to get to work in under an hour but also want the kids to have plenty of space eg parks or big garden some were they can kick a ball about as we have to go for miles in uk to find somewere like that

you get what i mean close to work but not in it and close to the bush but not in that either sounds strange i know guess i want the best of both worlds also close to a beach or two for the kids.

thanks again Rolling Eyes
