hi guys, my in game nick is badkarma and ive been trying to get an e-sporting scene happening in tassie, people might know me from when i used to run lantastic.

anyway, in my efforts i have setup a new website dedicated to esports in tassie, its www.karmaesports.com. im trying to promote all the lans happening in our area, of which there are quite a few. Ill be holding a one off lan for a qualifying competition in Counterstrike Source, where the finals will be held on the mainland next month. If we get enough people along, we will provide the airfares for the tasmanian winners to fly to melbourne to compete in the final.

chris: the competition will consist of teams of 5, so if you need a team, maybe you could advertise yourself on the forums. given the likely turnout of probably 6 teams (we hope), it will be a round robin event. After all the teams have played each other, the top two teams will go into a best of 3 maps scenario, with the winner getting the trip to melbourne (if we raise enough cash). if we dont raise enough cash, the money we do have will be given to the winners to at least spend or contribute to their flights to melbourne. if you arent that familiar with css comps, the maps usually played are de_dust2, de_inferno, de_nuke, de_train, de_season and one more we are unsure of as yet. There are a few competitive maps being used, we will pick one of those to make it six maps all up.

I must say, i never attended any of the LAN events you guys ran (was interested, didn't exactly have a computer ) but always followed what was happening, and remember who was who on the forums.

Sounds pretty, not sure how it will go down being on the same day as lan-ding though. It's hard to hold lan-events, other events always seem to clash.

I'm a tad interested, however i'd like to attend the lan-ding event at the same time

yeah, i considered holding off the event for another week cos of lan ding, but im worried about air fare prices. in case u arent aware, the more seats that are taken up, the more expensive the seats get.
