Zurek Gaming is currently planning a WiFi fox hunt to be scheduled within a few upcoming months.

The "Fox Hunt' is a game where there is a Wireless AP placed somewhere within an area, and teams must locate it.
It is an old game, which has been played by Ham radio enthusiasts.

Zurek Gaming are planning to be hosting a Fox hunt at Tolosa Park, and we are looking at running a few different game types:

The game is played with 5+ teams, each team is two people. One laptop and a wireless card (a directional antenna is recommended)

Classic Fox hunt: teams are to locate a stationary wireless access point
Fox "Sniping": the access point is secured via WPA, but default admin user/pass are kept. hints/codes are given in various places as to what the WPA key is. Winner is the first person to figure out the code, and to access the AP and disable the wireless, Hence "Sniping"
Moving fox (at the moment we are unsure of what way to do this, but we will manage): the teams must find and chase a fox, the team who captures the most packets from it after a certain amount of time wins.

We will be hiring the music dome (which allows us power to recharge equipment) and a hut, and will be having a barbecue lunch/

Please use the forums at www.zurekgaming.com for any questions.

.. Ive done some odd things in my time, and that includes running around hobart on a saturday with an inflateable pool being chased by psychopathic drivers beeping there horn at me.

running around TP with my works laptop sounds hazardous to my health, Ill show up for the day of entertainment, you guys need a hand with anything?

Do the sniping with WEP instead.. Its easier to grab weak keys and get through that, If you guys hook 2 laptops upto it, and spam a decent file back and forth for the time, there is no reason the competition couldnt be swung by someone with a little knowledge (or a decent user guide from google Razz )

Great idea guys. Truly original indeed.

We're not actually planning on the fox sniping to be a wep/wpa cracking competition, as some people just don't have the right equipment to be able capture packets and crack it, it will be a different method which will still take some thinking/skills but won't require two laptops with compatible chipsets and backtrack live cd's
