Hi all, Just saying hi! Hi**
LOL My partner and I are moving to Tassy 2009 to start a new chapter in our lives. We holidayed in Tassy October 2007 and fell in love with the place. We have rellies in Cygnet and know of a few ppl who have moved to Qld or have moved to Qld and are now moving back to Tassy and they have given us alot of positive feedback so we are really looking forward to starting our new life there, going to buy a block of dirt and eventually build some type of dwelling on it.

If anyone can tell me where around Hobart (work access) is a top place to live would be appreciated. We are doing our research on the net for housing etc.... anyway hope some of you have some advice on anything to expect. Cheers for now. Smile

It really depends what kind of lifestyle you want to have,
If you want to be a snob, may I suggest Battery Point or Sandy Bay.
Close to town? Try South or West Hobart.
Like dining out every night, how about North Hobart.
Want to live in working class suburb, why not try Moonah or Glenorchy.
Bogan more your style, can I suggest the wonderful suburbs of Gagebrook, Clarendon Vale, Bridgewater.
Want to commute, can I suggest Kingston, any of the Eastern Shore suburbs or Brighton.
Want an "Alternative" lifestyle? Fern Tree is awesome dude.

If you post something here a little more specific I would be only too glad to help.

P.S. I am probably not going to be allowed back into the state after this post, so I won't be attending your house warming party.

Thanks for that info Locomotion. My partner and are just down to earth normal ppl who love a good time and a long time...lol.. Laughing .
We don't particuly want to live in the heart of Hobart just somewhere within less than an hours drive i guess to go to work. My partner works for Bluescope and I am in the hopitality industry and well to be honest we are'nt planning on working as much as we do now. We both work nites and had enough of working just to pay of a house we never planned on staying in forever anyway. That's the one of the main reasons we are moving to Tasmania. To live life a little for a change.
Are you from Tassy originally?

Locomotion, nice writeup, I too agree with what you've said. I'm from Brighton myself an as such im a fan of it. 30mins from Hobart.

Kingston/Glenorchy sounds like it could be a place for you, closer to work but out of the city. I'm only giving you opinons on where I've been. I'm not a huge fan on Sorell or areas near by, e.g. midway point. Hope this helps.

Thanks...Yeah we did'nt have a good time in Sorell when we went to Tassy for our holiday last year. It was very windy and we were travelling in a IVECO camper(like the Mercedes Sprinters) which was very long. We almost lost the drivers side door. Luckyfor insurance hey.

Thanks for the info will talk to you again soon...cheers

Yeah I was living in Hobart as late as last year, but have transferred to Newcastle through work, am looking at transferring back to Hobart though. I agree with Grant, I would suggest some of the southern suburbs of Hobart though, like Kingston, Margate, Blackmans Bay, plus I think there is still plenty of room for property prices to go up there as well if you are looking to buy. Plus with the Kingston bypass to go in it should make things even better, Plus they have also just had that new shopping centre development and the main street upgrade making things a whole lot more promising. Personally I would stay away from Glenorchy, because its, hmm... where half of Hobart lives, plus its really close to Merton where some "people wouldn't like to live" (not mentioning any names here).
