I am hoping this is allowed. I would like to make contact with anyone I maybe related to from Tassie. My grandfather George Alfred GUY was married twive in Tassie. I don't know his 1st wifes name [they had quite a few children over there]. My grandmothers name was Rosanna May BERRY. They came back overr to Vic and they too had quite a few children. Hoping to hear from someone who must know a GUY over there. Ta Bonnie

well, questions are fine. alas, i dont know anyone of the description your after.

oh, and the place is small... but its not that small... here would be a great place to spam this (a mate found it on boostcrusing's forums, its "apparently" a compilation of things he heard about tasmanians)

Many many years ago
when I was twenty three,
I got married to a widow
who was pretty as could be.

This widow had a grown-up daughter
who had hair of red.
My father fell in love with her,
and soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law
and changed my very life.
My daughter was my mother,
for she was my father's wife.

To complicate the matters worse,
although it brought me joy,
I soon became the father
of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became
a brother-in-law to dad.
And so became my uncle,
though it made me very sad.

For if he was my uncle,
then that also made him brother
to the widow's grown-up daughter,
who, of course, was my step-mother.

Father's wife then had a son,
who kept them on the run.
And he became my grandson,
for he was my daughter's son.

My wife is now my mother's mother
and it makes me blue.
Because, although she is my wife,
she is my grandma too.

If my wife is my grandmother,
then I am her grandchild.
And every time I think of it,
it simply drives me wild.

For now I have become
the strangest case you ever saw.
As the husband of my grandmother,
I am my own grandpa.

thast just so you know they are here.

the best thing to do, if you know your parents parents is to goto the library, and ask if you can look at the micro film of the Births deaths and marriages.

see if your grandparents were listed in the births / deaths section of the newspaper... it will normally who they were related to by name.

just start following the family tree from there. unfortuneately, newspapers only go back so far. but its a great start, and if you start following them forwards in this manner, who knows what you might find..

this is one of many methods for family tree research.

Hey tAk, just checked the dictionary. I don't profess to be omniscient, I was only hoping to find something of use. Sorry If I offend

oh... thats just my sig...

if you check your profile, there is a section where you can add a "signature" its a piece of text that goes on the end of every post you make when turned on.

you will notice that it, along with my avatar (the penguin liberation Front) should be atattched to every post i make.. im not having a go at anyone, its just something witty that i came across and figured would make a good sig tag.
