oh goody its not as bad as i think
the nvida drivers have to be the same ver as the "3d" drivers

Also ATI is suported and all standard brands
(ie matrox etc etc)

simply install the software and
hardware (plug vga dongle into pc then plug crt into dongle

Supported screens
Crt
Lcd
LCD Projectors not supported but some have had some success with dlp aparentally?

Does it give you better depth perception?
I'm thinking two small screens, close to the eyes, with a truly fudged idea of '3d'

checked these at out the CompX

and i must say, if your prone to seizures, dont get them.. and if you are afraid that flashing lights might give you one, DONT get them.

the function is basic enough, software to force the screen to split, and "vibrate" and a pair of 3d based glasses.

the IR sender sends signals to the glasses to flash at certain intervals in each eye... the effect being the mind sees the image in 3D.
i personally think they went the wrong way about doing this. the old fashioned red / blue split approach may have worked better, reduced flicker and meant an ability to provide a more comfortable set of glasses. (though, the red/blue split thingy might not have worked all things considered.. thats just theory on my behalf)

however, the offset on the screen image is user set. so you can fiddle with it until it produces the best effect for you.

my personal opinion after looking through them for 30 seconds at the LAN... not something i would buy. even if i had a million $s to spend on a new rig.. those things would not make the budget.. id be much more likely to wipe my butt with the extra dosh.

is it true that his graphics card needed the glasses to make everything 3D?

3D glasses are imho a waste of time, whichever path they decide to take.

Alternating images for each eye are not at a stage where they are fast enough for the human eye not to notice them. where as the old red/green off centre slides just look crap full stop.

the real issue with his glasses is the fact taht the glasses produce a flashing effect to force your eyes to drop frames and sync with the screens imagery.. if anything, its a gimmick that has no real long term potential.

and i wouldnt say all 3D is crap.. i went to the 4D cinema at movie world once.. and the 3D setup they use works rather well.. the glasses are not red/green and they do not blink.

however, having to wear glasses all the time, 3D is kinda lost to me anyways.
